Saneem Riaz advances in Boy’s Singles U-17 qualifying round: All India Junior Ranking Tournament
India’s young shuttler, Saneem Riaz reserved his berth into the next stage of the Boy’s Singles U-17 qualifying round as he got rid of Rana Boruah in three sets at the 2011 All India Junior Ranking Tournament, on Tuesday, October 4, in Chandigarh, India.
A passionate Saneem delivered an extraordinary performance in the match and recovered from one set down to win the encounter by grabbing the following two sets. The match ended in three games that took 39 minutes of phenomenal performance from the young
shuttlers.
Saneem lost the opening game as he failed to find his momentum and played negative and wrong strokes. However, he fought back in the match and won the remaining two sets to claim victory in scintillating fashion.
The first set of this fabulous match was interesting, as both shuttlers opened their campaign in a similar way. They employed attacking strokes to get an advantage in the game. Saneem failed to continue performing positively and started to commit errors
which helped his opponent to reach at 11-7.
After the 60-second break, Rana maintained the difference in the whole game against the shaky Saneem, who failed to play well and lost the set by a margin of 12-21 in just 13 minutes.
The second set was dramatically opposite to the previous game as Saneem changed his strategy and attained a strong position in the match. He continued his roller-coaster run in the second game and finished it with a surprising margin of 21-6, by taking only
9 minutes in the court.
The final set of this wonderful Boy’s Singles’ match was the same story as Saneem continued his dominating game. His incredible speed was the major element which made the difference in the match. He played tremendous badminton in the deciding game and finished
the job by winning it in 17 minutes by the score of 21-14.
Saneem proved his mettle by winning this hard fought match with the score of 12-21, 21-6 and 21-14 by playing remarkable badminton for 39 minutes.
