Sania Mirza is enraged by the decisions of AITA – Tennis News
Indian tennis ace, Sania Mirza, is very annoyed by the plot that has been executed by the All Indian Tennis Association to pacify the three male superstars in the world of doubles tennis. She is the one sacrificed in the middle;
just like a trade-off price to pacify Leander Paes who is extremely annoyed to be teamed up with the inferior ranked Vishnu Vardhan for the Olympics team.
The whole drama started when the All Indian Tennis Association decided to send one doubles team for Olympics; the team of Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes. However, Bhupathi was not happy with the decision and launched a raid through
press conferences that he wanted to be paired with Rohan Bopanna. In the end it was decided that Bhupathi will be teamed up with Bopanna and Paes who is the top ranked doubles player from Indian will have to tie up with a minnow like Vardhan.
In order to pacify Paes, Mirza has been teamed up with him in the mix doubles category of Olympics and he will no longer be playing with his career-long partner Bhupathi.
On this decision, the wife of Pakistan’s former cricket team captain, Shoaib Malik, was extremely annoyed and stated, “What I find disillusioning is the humiliating manner in which I was put up as a bait to try and pacify one of
the disgruntled stalwarts of Indian tennis. This kind of blatant humiliation of Indian womanhood needs to be condemned even if it comes from the highest controlling body of tennis in our country. .I can assure all my countrymen that I shall never allow these
difficult circumstances to come in the way of giving my very best when the Games begin."
Mirza has dropped to the 246th spot in the WTA (Women Tennis Association) singles rankings. It is high time for Indian tennis officials to stop being biased towards male athletes and respect the opinion of women superstars
as well. Mirza is the only recognized tennis player from this part of the world and using her as a trade-off for their poor decision is extremely incompetent on their part.
