Former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar, has slammed the Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 for reinstating the English batsman, Ian Bell, after tea on day three of the second Test of the four-match series at Trent Bridge.
On the last ball before the tea interval, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032 flicked a ball down to deep square leg and both the batsmen had completed three runs before Bell left his crease, assuming that the ball had gone past the boundary. The right-hander walked towards Eoin
Morgan, while the Indian fielders dislodged the bails and the umpires gave him out.
However, the Indian captain decided to withdraw his appeal during the tea break and Bell came in to bat again, amidst roaring applause.
A number of cricket analysts around the world have praised the Indian captain’s decision and feel that Bell was in the wrong and should have been penalized.
Manjrekar said, "Sorry ... but don't agree with Dhoni's decision to call Bell back ... it was not a case of batsman wrongly given out."
Former middle-order batsman recalled the incident when the former Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vishwanath-c95479 reinstated Bob Taylor. However, Manjrekar feels that it was a completely different scenario.
“Many years back G.R http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597 was being very casual, almost careless, walking off before a definitive call from umpire for boundary
or tea and deserved to be out," he added.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 was on top after couple of days of the Test match but they lost the initiative on the third day as the English batsmen scored their runs at will and sealed the advantage for their team.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 was leading by 374 runs at the close of play on day three with its four second inning wickets in hand. This is an absolutely crucial series for the Test rankings and this Test match at Nottingham could decide the fate of the other two matches to
come.
