Former Indian cricketer and commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar, is surprised to see his former teammate, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 Tendulkar in politics, and said that the Little-Master can contribute a lot to the game of cricket after retirement.
The batting-maestro met the Indian Prime Minister, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manmohan-Singh-c74213 yesterday, and was offered a seat in the Rajya Sabha, India’s upper-house of the parliament, which was accepted by the legendary cricketer.
Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the game and holds most of the batting records in Test cricket as well as One Day Internationals. The Little-Master has scored more than 33000 runs in international cricket with 100 centuries and
no batsman comes close to the statistics of the former Indian captain.
The 39-year-old cricketer is at the twilight of his career now and may call it a day anytime in future. Manjrekar, who has played a lot of cricket alongside the great batsman, feels that he always thought that Sachin will take up coaching or commentary as
his profession after retirement, but Manjrekar could never imagine Tendulkar as a member of the parliament.
“When I visualise what Sachin could possibly do after retirement, I thought something connected to cricket, coaching and all that, may be some business or social activity. But Rajya Sabha MP after retirement or even at this stage of career is something that
was not even in my wildest guess," Manjrekar said.
Tendulkar has already retired from T20 cricket and these days he does not play for India in every series. Last year, the legendary cricketer opted out of the Test series in the Caribbean as he wanted some rest.
Manjrekar added that Tendulkar does not play a lot of domestic cricket and is not sure that how the Little-Master will take time out for politics. However, he knows that the people of India want to see Sachin in the Parliament.
The former batsman added, "Nowadays he does not play in each and every match http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy. If he wants to take out time he can and that is what people would expect. He is not going to be there everyday, in each
Parliament session.”
