Sanjeeth S. proceeds in qualifying round of 2012 Syed Modi International India GPG
Men’s Singles shuttler Sanjeeth S. registered his presence in Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG tournament as he sealed a splendid victory over Angushuman Bora in qualifying round on December 18, 2012.
This tussle was staged in the local badminton arena of Lucknow, India and both native shuttlers kept the audience intact while piling up decisive figures of 21-17 and 21-15.
The young but talented Sanjeeth showed great maturity in his craft and wrapped this showdown in just two games.
On the other hand, Angushuman had to face a woeful exit despite of putting an honest effort in both segments of this encounter.
In first set of the match, he took off in perfect manner and matched his rival’s skills in the establishing rallies.
Both contenders remained equal on the points table until 5-5 but then Angushuman made a swift progress and established a respectable lead before interval.
He finished first half of the set with an impressive total of 11 and relished full benefits of this advantage in third quarter of the set.
He was in strong position to claim this match point when few back-to-back mistakes weakened his grip.
Sanjeeth made best out of his competitor’s blunders and bagged six consecutive points after 9-15 margin. He did not lose this rhythm in the final stage and finished this crucial segment with 21-17 score on the board.
This timely win boosted his confidence and he displayed an elevated craft in the following game. Initially, he was bit sluggish but then some productive rallies kick-started his expedition.
Sanjeeth made a notable difference on the points table and piled up a mountainous figure of 7-2 in no time.
This five-point deficit proved too much for Angushuman as he could not lift this burden and knelt down tamely in pressure situation.
Meanwhile, Sanjeeth did not show mercy at any stage of the game and kept his challenger at lower end all the way to game point situation.
He finished this set with a significant lead in 21-15 margin. With this win, he marched into second stage of the qualifying round where he will lock horns with Vikas Harsha P.
