Sannatasah Saniru surges into Women’s Singles main round of the 2011 Vietnam Open Grand Prix
Malaysia’s Sannatasah Saniru surged into the main round as she has defeated Indonesia’s Fitriani in the Women’s Singles qualifying round of the 2011 Vietnam Open Grand prix, in Vietnam, on Tuesday, August 23.
The Malaysian shuttler displayed her skills in scintillating fashion against the Indonesian and won the three-set battle after putting up a strong show for 60 minutes. She proved that she has the talent to beat any of her opponents on a given day.
The start of the match was quite impressive for the Malaysian as she was playing without any pressure on her shoulders. Her strokes were landing in the perfect places as she was hitting strokes by getting into an ideal position. The Indonesian failed to
catch the speed of her rival who was playing planned badminton. Sannatasah clinched the opening game with a 21-17 margin in 21 minutes.
However, Fitriani bounced back into the contest by playing a changed game in the second set. She was relying on her smashes this time which earned her a good lead. The Malaysian played some hasty strokes which went wide of the court. The Indonesian was progressing
smoothly in the game by playing positive badminton. Sannatasah lost the game with a five-point difference of 16-21, in 18 minutes.
The final set of this Women’s Singles qualifying round match was thrilling as both ladies played equally well this time. The score also progressed without any clear difference as both shuttlers were pushing each other in all corners of the court. Until the
interval, Sannatasah was in somewhat a better position with an 11-9 lead.
After the break, the Indonesian worked hard to level the score by reaching at 15-15. However, Sannatasah displayed a wonderful performance in the ending points of the match by playing with incredible speed. She scored the concluding points of the battle
and won it with the score of 21-19, in 21 minutes. This thrilling battle of the qualifying round ended in 60 minutes with the score of 21-17, 16-21 and 21-19.
