Sanne van Paassen successful at the Superprestige Hamme-Zogge 2012, Elite Women Category
Sanne van Paassen of Rabobank Women Team claimed the Superprestige Hamme-Zogge Elite Women category after her outstanding performance on Sunday, November 11, 2012.
It was her third round victory at Hansgrohe Superprestige series in Zogge, Belgium where she managed to overcome the in-form Pavla Havlikova of Team Young Telenet-Fidea.
Paassen took a total time of 39 minutes and 40 seconds to cross the finish-line, defeating Havlikova with a convincing margin of 8 seconds.
The Dutch cyclist was delighted with the win and thanked her teammates for their continuous support at the event.
“Last week was a rest week and every year I become ill in it. Saturday morning I felt like an old lady when I woke up,” Van Paassen cited.
“It pleases me a lot that I was riding pain free today. It’s always nice to win here. It’s a flat course with some corners and stairs, I like it. ‘I’ll do some most of the Superprestige races”.
Sanne Cant of Team Veldritacademie Enertherm – BKCP looked good initially but could not match the likes of her opponents as she finished 28 seconds behind the race leader and had to settle for the third position.
Cant’s early attack helped her leading the race in the earlier laps of the six laps race with van Paassen, Havlikova, Sabrina and Nikki Harris.
Van Paassen and Cant tried to build a gap on the rest of the pack but they were soon chased by more riders including Amy Dombroski of Team Young Telenet-Fidea.
“It was a big mistake because the two were gone and I never managed to close it back down, I felt good early on, even though I was sick for three days this week,” Cant told Cyclingnews.
Nikki Harris of Team Young Telenet-Fidea and Sabrina Stultiens of Rabobank Women Team achieved the fourth and the fifth positions with a deficit of 31 and 32 seconds on the race leader.
Ellen Van Loy of Team Melbotech Prorace CT, Joyce Vanderbeken of Team Wielerteam Decock Sportivo Moorsele, Amy Dombroski of Team Young Telenet-Fidea, Lana Verberne of Team Orange Babies and Pauline Ferrand-Prevot claimed the next five position respectively.
