The Saints chief believes that his team can beat the odds in the upcoming match against the Zebre; insists it is crucial for the team to stay out of relegation zone.
Giuseppe Sannino has insisted that Siena has the ability to surprise Udinese with an upset in the upcoming Serie A clash. The manager insisted that the team can beat Zebre, provided that they play with an unwavering belief in their ability.
The Tuscans are quickly being sucked up into the relegation zone following their recent dismal form in the league, and desperately need points to stay afloat in Italy’s top flight. They are currently situated 16th in the Serie A points table,
and have a six point cushion over the relegation pit.
While talking to the press, 54-year-old said:
“If we go out there with the belief we can do it, then anything can happen.”
Their match against Udinese is expected to be a ferocious fight for the crucial three points, as the Friulani are also looking to make good of Lazio’s defeat against Parma, and look to capture the crucial third spot for UEFA Champions League qualification.
The Saints chief insisted that the team cannot afford to breathe easy following their draw in an away match against Chievo Verona. He insisted that it would be a mistake to think that the team is left with no problems to work on, and the players cannot
afford any form of complacency. The former Varese manager insisted that the team should forget everything, and work towards getting the crucial points that would secure their survival in Serie A.
“Even if we picked up a precious point away to Chievo, we cannot relax or think we’ve resolved all our problems. I don’t know how, I don’t know where, but we must earn those points that mathematically secure our Serie A safety.”
Sannino admitted that they are up against a strong unit in the form of Udinese, who have been doing so well in the recent times. The tactician relented that the club’s ability to continually find new talent, and sell it off has been phenomenal.
The Tuscan manager was all praise for the oppositions coach, Francesco Guidolin, and extolled the manger’s ability to continually evolve his tactical system. He insisted that he has a good understanding of the opposition’s strength.
“Udinese’s strength is that they create density in midfield and push hard down the wings with Di Natale an exceptional finisher.” The boss added.
Siena will host Udinese in their next Serie A fixture on Sunday, 1st April 2012, at 13:00 GMT.
