Sansa e260 and real player

1) my computer will noy always recognize the hardware. I have windows xp.Iam not sure which usb mode to be in.The computer wont write the music as it tells me it cannot see the format mp3 and wma.Icannot empty my sansa of music I had on it from my old computer. my firmware updates are new but i have tried everythimg. Please help.regards lisagail
