Santa Clara Swim Club A wins Men’s 4*200m freestyle relay – Speedo Junior National Championships
SCSCPC - Santa Clara Swim Club A captured the title of Men’s 4*200m freestyle relay on day three of the 2011 Speedo Junior Championships on Wednesday, August 10, in Palo Alto, California.
The distant freestyle relay swim was the last event of the session, where the members of SCSCPC relay team overruled their fellow teams and clinched the gold medal of the event, with a timing of 7 minutes and 34.06 seconds. The squad of the gold medallist
team included Samuel Shimomura, Ian Burns, Jackson Partin and Michael Nunan.
The gold winning squad was nearly thirty-six seconds behind the world record of 6 minutes and 58.55 seconds, set by USA Relay team at the 2009 World Championships. They were nearly twenty-two seconds slower than the US record of 7 minutes and 12.35 seconds,
made by Club Wolverine of USA in 2005.
SCSCPC was trailed by DYNAGA - Dynamo Swim Club A, who remained 1.93 seconds behind them and occupied the podium for second position, by posting a time of 7 minutes and 35.99 seconds. MAC-NC – SwimMAC Carolina A were the third position holders of the event,
as they posted a time of 7 minutes and 36.62 seconds.
Meanwhile, BSS-FL – Bolles School Sharks A emerged as the fourth position holders of the event, by posting a time of 7 minutes and 36.96 seconds. They were followed by BCH-CA – Boulder City Henderson Swim Team A and MVN-CA – Mission Viejo Nadadores A, who
earned fifth and sixth finest spots of the event, by reporting in a time of 7:37.47 and 7:37.98 minutes, respectively.
They were chased by AAAAST – Alamo Area Aquatic Association A, who stayed 2.63 seconds behind their former finisher and clocked a seventh fastest time of 7 minutes and 39.35 seconds. BSS-FL – Bolles School Sharks B settled as the eighth fastest team, with
a timing of 7 minutes and 40.73 seconds.
The session ended after the completion of the day’s swimming schedule, while the winners received accolades for the wonderful swims after the session.
