Santa Cruz considering options
's agent has said that the player is currently listening to offers from different clubs as he seeks a new start at the end of the summer.
Santa Cruz was signed to Manchester City when Mark Hughes was the manager. However, the number of strikers at the club means Santa Cruz is not likely to get a good chance in the Premier League this season.
A number of clubs are said to be tracking him and he could be a very successful scorer in a league of slightly reduced quality. The player's agent Jan Van Baal has said he will not rush and make the wrong decision for his career.
Santa Cruz has a number of attributes that should see him do well at any club he joins in the immediate future. He is a player who thrives on confidence and he could dominate a league, which makes him an attractive proposition to many.
Santa Cruz's attributes
Santa Cruz is a very big and strong player who can play in a number of different ways. He can play at the top of the pitch by himself and hold the ball up for others or he can drop off of the front to come and get the ball.
He has plenty of experience having played a number of games at Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League as well as playing for Paraguay at international level. This means he knows how to score goals and will be ready to walk into any side that signs him.
His hunger and ambition is still there. He is on a very lucrative contract at Manchester City and could sit on the bench while taking his wages. However, it seems that he is actively seeking a new club whether it's a permanent switch or a loan deal.
Van Baal said: "If he leaves, City would certainly want to get back a bit of their investment. He won't go for free. I could see a paid-for loan with an automatic option to buy. It's the fashionable solution, but that's for Manchester City to decide. There are some leads in the Premier League and abroad. He still has his admirers."
Exciting potential
Santa Cruz has shown in the past that once he starts scoring goals regularly he is a very difficult striker to play against. Manchester City have other players who are ahead of him in the pecking order and he may well take a step down just to rattle the back of the net every week.
Clubs are always on the look out for a striker who can score goals and take a club to the next level. There appears to be a lot of interest from clubs in France and Germany and it seems he will move by the end of August.
Van Baal added: "I know that Marseille are interested and there have been a few discussions. It is an interesting destination. They are in the Champions League and they have a manager who is established."
Betting advice
Santa Cruz can do well and score goals at any club. He needs to be in a side to do this. If he stays at Manchester City then he will not score too many goals so be wary of backing him to be top scorer at the club or in the Premier League.
If he moves to Marseille then he has a bigger chance to score goals and will be a better bet to be top scorer at the French giants, to be top scorer in Ligue 1 and to score at any time in any game.
