Manchester City’s on loan forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-c31776 Santa has admitted that he would much rather stay at Real Betis instead of returning to the Etihad Stadium.
The forward was loaned to the La Liga side last season, following their promotion to the first division of Spanish football.
City went on to make this move, after they invested in the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez and Edin Dzeko. Which left very little to no space for Santa Cruz in the City squad and it seemed like he would end up rotting on the bench,
if he didn’t make the move.
With the team already doing so well in his absence and with the strikers at the club performing at an all time high, Santa Cruz feels that it might be better for everyone if he just stayed at Betis, instead of moving back to City.
When talking about his future ambitions and plans to stay at Betis, the Paraguayan forward is quoted to have said: “I'm fine here and I want to stay and there will be talks, hopefully in the coming weeks, with my agent.”
“It is important to see them [City] face negotiations with a smile on their face. The club has made a major investment in me and is entitled to see something in exchange.”
“They do not want to give away players, many players are in a situation like mine.”
“But Betis have my word that I will do everything possible to stay, although it depends on City."
Santa Cruz went on to make thirty three appearances for Betis this season and during this games, he went on to score seven goals for the team.
Despite his performances not being as impressive as they could have been, Betis still think of Santa Cruz as a valuable part of their team. The forward seems to have settled in at the club rather well and hence they aren’t too keen on letting him go.
As a far as City are concerned, should they be able to get some form of a fee for the forward, they would be more than willing to let him go, given the fact that they really have no use for him anymore.
