Clearing up the air, the much travelled star revealed that while his affections for Real Betis remain, Malaga are his faith now and he will give his best in their cause.
“Sunday is an important game, especially for me, but I really want to score. I've always said I have affection for Betis but now I'm here at La Rosaleda, and people should understand that goals are joys. I'd like to celebrate.”
Reflecting on his transfer to Malaga, Santa Cruz shared that he had expected to join Real Betis after the end of his load period, however, but negotiations between his parent club and the Andalusian entity did not fare as expected.
“I left Betis with the best intention to return, it was a story of the clubs. These things happen in football. Also, I liked the chance to play in the Champions League.”
