Santa Domingo, What is the best all around place to stay and why?

I want to go to the Dominican Republic, to Fish, Snorkel, Jet-ski Surf, hit the beaches and enjoy the nightlife... and meeting a cute girl wouldn't be bad either... I have been told one side of The Dominican is better than the other, any info would be great! Thanks

To do all this activities and also enjoy some good night-life, I would suggest to go to Puerto Plata (north coast). In the hotels/resorts of Playa Dorada you will not only find the opportunity to do all kind of activities, also you gonna find a huge night-life at the several new disco's located there. Maby even meeting a nice girl, why not? There are plenty of them in Playa Dorada from all over the world and of course young people (locals) visiting the beach and disco's... Given the activities you want to do I would recommend to visit Bayahibe in la Romana. There are plenty of things to do and you will still have the option of laying flat in the sun and enjoy the beach. As for one side of the Dominican being better than the other it depends on the type of tourism you want to do.

We have it all basically, we have a mini desert in the south called “Dunas de Baní” with an amazing beach called “Salinas”. Also in the south you will have “Barahona” city with natural untouched rivers going into nice surfing beaches. You will also find big relax Resorts in Punta Cana and Bavaro in the East, while on the North part of the island you will find Resorts with so much outside/city activities in where is called “Puerto Plata” city. If you want to experience the country or high mountains atmosphere Puerto Plata, Pico Duarte, La Vega, Samana will be the places to go. Also Samana city specifically “Las Terrenas” is a hidden place where you will have the fun of your life, Resorts are the best and you can easily without no fear walk the little town of Las Terrenas and experience the normal life in the DR. No matter where you go the people are very welcoming so I’m sure will love to come back.
