The Real Madrid legend has claimed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 is a player deserving of the coveted Ballon d’Or.
Former Spanish national team's coach, Jose Santamaria, has expressed that the Blancos star is worthy of the prestigious honour, stating that the Portuguese is among the finest footballers to ever grace the field.
The retired defender heaped a great amount of praise on the Portuguese skipper, claiming that he is currently breaking all records with Real Madrid.
Santamaria lauded former Manchester United player’s ability to turn a game over its head.
The veteran stated that football fans has seen Ronaldo do amazing things on the football pitch from time to time and believes that the 27-year-old is a rare talent who exceeds expectations every time he is given the opportunity.
The Portuguese skipper has enjoyed an excellent campaign this season. Having won last year’s Pichichi award, there were many hopes attached to the gifted winger and he has managed to surpass them all.
The player was also among the three finalists nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or award, the other two being http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 and Xavi Hernandez. Even though the award was won by Messi, it has hardly seemed to affect the Madridsta.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-c9622 has scored 42 goals in the Spanish La Liga in a total of 34 appearances so far this season.
Santamaria was quick to note http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734’s goal scoring ability and reiterated that he is the best player in the world at the moment.
While talking to reporters, the 82-year-old was quoted as saying:
"I would like to see him win it, but there are other players who have made their mark as well, though. It all depends on which criteria are used. It's hard to say whether he will win. At the moment it seems as if he's capable of breaking any record he wants
to break. He can single-handedly decide games and I think that he deserves to win the Ballon D'Or.”
The Portuguese international had the last laugh on Saturday as he scored the winning goal in Real Madrid’s El Clasico victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, taking his side 7 points clear of La Blaugrana in the Spanish La Liga title race.
