Santo Condorelli dominates Men’s 100 yard freestyle heats – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals
Santo Condorelli of Bolles School Sharks dominated the qualification rounds of Men’s 100 yard freestyle on third day of the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships at University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Saturday, December 8.
The 17-year-old Condorelli demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the four-lap discipline as he exceeded expectations of his supporters by entering the final round as top contender for gold medal.
With his impeccable pace, Condorelli stayed comfortably ahead of his closest competitor as he transpired on the finishing end for first position with the timing of 43.77 seconds.
Condorelli was followed by Dylan Carter of Davie Nadadores, who was 0.53 seconds apart and occupied second fastest spot of the race by touching the wall with the timing of 44.30 seconds.
Carter was followed by Caeleb Dressel of Bolles School Sharks, who remained 0.19 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 44.49 seconds for third place.
Afterwards, the crowd witnessed gruelling efforts of Crow Canyon County’s David Morgan and North Texas Nada’s Brett Ringgold, who remain involved in a stroke-to-stroke battle for fourth place.
Both swimmers showered their expertise in the final lap but failed to outsmart each other over the finishing end and tapped the wall with the timing of 44.77 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the race was obtained by Julian Ballestas of Metro Aquatic Club, who stayed 0.19 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing blockade by producing a time of 44.96 seconds.
The 18-year-old Ballestas was traced by Julian Mackrel of Northern Dutches, who was 0.02 seconds away from overpowering his preceding swimmer and surfaced on the finishing wall for seventh position by submitting a time of 44.98 seconds.
Last qualification spot of the race was obtained by Wesley Olmsted of High Tide Aquatics, who was 0.16 seconds slower from his former finisher and concluded his race by reporting an effort of 45.14 seconds.
In addition, Condorelli was extremely delighted with his top finish in the race and articulated that he would try his level best to continue the same in the final round.
