Santo Condorelli occupies Men’s 100m freestyle gold – Speedo Junior National Championships
Santo Condorelli of Bolles School Sharks occupied gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle on second day of the 2012 Speedo Junior National Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Tuesday, August 14.
The 17-year-old Condorelli served notice of his talent in the double lap freestyle event as he stifled hopes of his challengers by proving his eligibility for gold medal. He faced tough competition from his teammate, Caeleb Dressel, but with his astonishing
pace, he managed to outperform him over the finishing end for gold medal.
Condorelli remained just an inch ahead of his following rival and made his way to the finishing blockade for first position with a timing of 50.92 seconds.
The champion was chased by Dressel, who stayed only 0.04 seconds slower and hit the finishing wall for second position with an effort of 50.96 seconds.
Following that, the audience witnessed gruelling efforts of Sven Campbell of Orinda Aquatics, who stayed just 0.01 seconds behind and secured bronze medal of the race in a time of 50.97 seconds.
Campbell was followed by John Murray of Alamo Area Aquatics, who was only 0.03 seconds apart and secured fourth best spot of the discipline by reporting a time of 51.00 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Michael Domagala of Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics, who remained 0.14 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 51.14 seconds.
Subsequently, Domagala was traced by Brett Ringgold of North Texas Nadadores, who remained 0.02 seconds slower and posted a time of 51.16 seconds for sixth position.
Ringgold remained just a touch away from his following swimmer, Connor Black of Cars Aquatic Team, who secured seventh fastest spot of the event by reporting a time of 51.22 seconds.
Black was followed by Clark Smith of Denver Swim Academy, who remained 1.52 seconds behind and ended his race in eighth best place by producing a time of 52.74 seconds for eighth place.
In addition, the crowd applauded for exhausting efforts of Condorelli in the 100m event while he expressed his desire of accomplishing the same future events.
