Santo Thomas and Savant Bleu to battle it out in the Les Swanwick Electrical Ltd. Handicap Hurdle
Today, 4th April, Hereford will host the Les Swanwick Electrical Ltd. Handicap Hurdle. This race will be run over a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs, on a surface labelled good.
Seven runners will take the field today in pursuit of a purse of £2,014.
Savant Bleu is one of the best runners participating in this race.
He is up against:
Santo Thomas,
Diamond MM,
Am I Blue,
Fidelor,
Ricardo’s Chance, and
Soleil D’ Avril.
Savant Bleu, trained by Kim Bailey for the Kim Bailey Racing Partnership III, started his racing career on 8th May, 2011, at Worcester, in the Worcester News Intermediate National Hunt Flat Race (Div I) (Conditionals And Amateurs).
He was the mount for Kielan Woods, as he defeated the race favourite, Sunglasses, by a head.
Charles Greene rode him in the Stratford Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle at Warwick on 11th March, 2012, who guided him to a finish in the second place.
He fell 1 ¾ lengths behind the winner, Mujamead.
The 6-year-old gelding has been demonstrating consistent performances and may succeed today.
Competing against him is another good runner, Santo Thomas, who is gaining significant amount of market attention for this race.
The son of Chichicastenango, out of European Style, unseated jockey, George Bartlett, in the Whitson Bloodstock "Hands And Heels" Handicap Hurdle (For Conditional Jockeys And Amateur Riders), at Warwick, on 24th February, 2012,
racing as a favourite with odds of 11 to 4.
Trained by Venetia Williams for owner, Mrs. B. Grainger, he landed a victory in the Win A Copy At Win.betangel.com Handicap Hurdle, mounted by Sam Thomas, on 15th February, 2012.
Under Thomas’s guidance, he tracked the leaders and made steady headway. He took the lead towards the end, outrunning Deny by 3 ½ lengths.
Santo Thomas looks like he can take this race comfortably.
He has shown more consistency than other runners in today’s line-up, and has the ability to dominate. He may start slow but will eventually gain pace with time.
Savant Bleu looks like he can give Santo Thomas a run for his money, but he would have to bring forward his best to pose any serious challenge.
These two runners are gaining some market attention, and it is widely speculated that Santo Thomas would be the one to emerge victorious.
