Newcastle United defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Davide-Santon-c10658 has been recalled to the Italian national team for the friendly against France after his impressive performances for the Magpies.
The Italian defender is delighted by his call-up, and hopes that he can continue to play at this level for both club and country. The player is hopeful of continuing his impressive performances once he returns to Tyneside after this week’s international
duty.
The 21-year old left Tyneside to join his compatriots for tonight’s international friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. The player is confident that his performances for the Magpies will lead to a regular starting place in the Italy squad.
This marks the Italian’s first national call-up in over 20 months. Santon is especially looking forward to the prospect of playing against his club teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423. Speaking to the club’s official website, Santon said:
“I am so happy because it has been a really long time since I was in the senior national team. It will be really nice, especially if I play against my friend Yohan. Even though it is a friendly, we want to win and I am excited for the match."
“But I want to come back from the game and then get a win for Newcastle against Swansea. My team is Newcastle and I want to win games here first of all. If we are winning and I am playing well, then I will hopefully continue to make the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 squad.”
The Magpies will host Swansea City at St. James’ Park this weekend, and will be hoping to avoid a second consecutive home defeat.
They lost to West Ham last weekend in a 1-0 score line which pushes them down to 10th place on the league table. The team was without Fabricio Coloccini who is currently serving a three-match suspension. Cheick Tiote was also not present, but
the Ivorian midfield enforcer will make his return in the weekend’s game against Swansea.
Newcastle have so far failed to replicate last season’s impressive form, and need to start playing better if they want to compete for a Champions League finish. With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Fulham and West Brom all fighting for the same thing, the
race for 4th looks more intense than ever.
