Newcastle United full back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, was glad to make the switch last summer and believes that the Premier League is the best competition in Europe.
The juvenile defender was signed by Newcastle for an estimated 5.3 million pounds fee in August last year on a 5 year contract. The Italian International made 53 appearances for the Serie A side, and also spent a six month loan spell at Cesena, before returning
to the Sansiro in the summer of 2011. He made his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur in October, and has represented the Magpies in 27 games in all competitions.
Nevertheless, Santon mentioned that his stay at Tyneside has been a memorable one so far, and was desperate to make a mark in the league next term.
The 21-year old, who had to wait for four months before getting his first cap for the Toon, also indicated that the time he spent on the bench had helped him develop as a player, as he got the chance to study about the club, his team-mates and the role that
he was about to play in the team.
Newcastle experienced a remarkable 2011/12 campaign which saw them finish ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at the fifth spot in the league table. Santon revealed that the season was a high mark of his career and he was quickly adjusting to the conditions and
the atmosphere of the club.
He told the reporters, “It went really well. It was successful for the team but successful for me as well. I'm starting to get to know the team and make friends and it's been a really good season.”
Santon also drew comparison between Serie A and Premier League, and thought that the latter was more competitive. He also backed his decision of leaving Inter Milan last summer and vowed to stay at the Sports Direct Arena for a long time.
He continued, “The Premier League is fantastic. I love it. It seems like every year English football is getting better, and therefore I'm thankful that I made the right choice to leave Italian football and come here.”

was hopeful that the Toon will be able to build on their successes next season.
