http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Davide-Santon-c10658, Newcastle's Italian defender, has stated that he is perfectly happy and well settled with the Magpies and has urged them to sign Lille right-back Mathieu Debuchy.
Santon has dismissed reports linking him with a return to Serie A amid interest from Italian outfit AS Roma and has urged Newcastle to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682, the attacking fullback from French club Lille.
The 21-year old Italian started his career as a right sided attacker and was later reverted to an attacking full back, known to play on either side of the field and for his energetic sprints down the flank.
He joined Newcastle United in 2011 from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan on a 5-year contract for an undisclosed fee. He made a quick impact with the team and soon became a fan favourite. He made 27 appearances last season as the Magpies had an impressive run, defying expectations
and falling short of a Champions League spot by just one point.
However, the full-back has been recently linked with a move back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 as the club most likely to sign him. However, the Italian defender has dismissed all rumours and speculation and insisted that he is quite happy at Newcastle.
"I know Roma are looking for a right-back and they showed interest in me, but Newcastle immediately refused to give me up," Santon told an Italian magazine.
"That's okay for me because I have familiarised myself with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and I have no plans to move. I've only been here for a year and it is too early to pack up and come back to Italy."
Speaking on the possible arrival of Debuchy from Lille, Santon said:
"Debuchy to Newcastle? I am calm."
"Pardew had told me that he had thought about playing me on the right, but also that another right-back would come.”
"Debuchy or whoever is welcome, especially if it is a good player who can help the team. Then, we'll see who the coach decides to pick."
The Newcastle defender largely functions on the left, and is clearly not threatened by the arrival of the French starlet and is actually looking forward to playing with him come next season.
