Sanyam Shukla topples Ankit Chhikara in first round of All India Junior Ranking Tournament
India’s junior shuttler, Sanyam Shukla powered his way into the Boy’s Singles U-17 second round as he cleared the first-round hurdle by beating Ankit Chhikara at the 2011 All India Junior Ranking Tournament, in India, on Wednesday, October 5.
Sanyam displayed his wonderful spirit while playing against Ankit and dominated the pace of the rallies in the major part of the game. He emerged as the winner in a well fought three-set contest by taking 40 minutes.
In the opening set of the match, both boys cheered the crowd by playing with passion. They kept the pace of the rallies at the highest level and employed all of their skills to control the pace.
Sanyam’s incredible smashes and wonderful spinning net shots spared no room for Ankit to get rid of the extraordinary game of his opponent. Until the 60-second break, Sanyam was ahead of his rival at 11-9
In the second-half of the first set, Sanyam continued his dominating play as he dictated Ankit in all corners of the court. He took the opening set advantage by winning it with a 21-16 score on the board, in just 14 minutes.
In the second game, Ankit came into the court with an attacking approach. He played positive and flawless badminton and remained consistent while working extra hard. Sanyam failed to play aggressively in this second game and remained behind at 8-11.
After the interval, Sanyam tried to reduce the gap by playing aggressive and fast badminton but failed as his challenger was playing better. Sanyam lost the second game with a decent difference of 17-21, in 15 minutes.
The third and final game of this interesting contest was completely stunning for Ankit as Sanyam played top-class badminton in this set. He did not commit any mistake in this deciding game and easily won it with a surprising score of 21-8 in just 11 minutes.
Both players put up a scintillating show in the court and the concluding result of this fantastic match was 21-16, 17-21 and 21-8.
