Question:

Sanyo TV won't turn on. Why?

My Sanyo TV, model DS20425, suddenly stopped working. When I plug it in, I hear the normal soft "pop" from the speakers, then it immediately seems to shut down. There's also a very slight little pop in the area of the back of the picture tube near the focus rings. There's no indication of the picture tube energizing at all.

After two seconds or so, the cycle starts over. On-off-on-off....

However, a time or two, the cycle was broken and the TV came on for a minute or so before shutting back down and restarting the cycle.

There are no burn marks on the boards. I cannot find any broken solder joints or frayed wires. I re-seated all of the wiring connectors. No leaking caps. No cracked boards. The TV has not been moved, jarred or dropped. The fuse is fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Can you hear the Horizontal Frequency sweep/High Voltage to the CRT?

    Added info:

Get a Digital VM and start measuring the voltages in your low voltage power supply.  If you do not have a schematic for your set, go to your local library and look up your TV in the Sams 2008 Photofact Index to get their catalog number and then ask for that number.

  2. hmmmmm..... i had this problem before with a RCA TV try getting someone to help or something likethat.
