Sanyo punctured evaporator

I read in another post that if you puncture the evaporator on a Sanyo refigerator (my model is SR-2570) then it isn't worth the cost of repair. Can you please confirm? 

Is it not just a question of buying the part and installing it? I hate to throw this whole unit out if it can be easily--and cheaply--repaired.
