Sap on lilies?

My Fiance bought me a bouquet of oriental lilies and I am going on day 10 with them, most of them have bloomed and a few of the flowers now have some clear liquidy substance forming on their pistil. I am not sure what it is I thought it was just water but it is thick. I was just wondering if anyone knew what this was and if it has anything to do with the lilies reproduction at all. I would love to be able to grow some more of these as they are beautiful flowers.
