Sapsiree Taerattanachai shows exit to Liu Xin (F) in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at China Masters
Thailand’s spirited player Sapsiree Taerattanachai proved her elevated craft on court as she secured her berth in Women’s Singles quarter-final as she overpowered her local rival Liu Xin (F) in round-of-16 at Li Ning China Masters Super Series 2012 at Changzhou,
China, on Thursday, September 13.
The un-seeded Sapsiree, who has been showing an impressive performance in her previous matches in the championship, showed a wonderful show of aggressive and positive badminton and overpowered Liu who was the sixth seed in the main draw.
World Number 34 Sapsiree played with impressive confidence on court as she was in complete control of rallies and showed exit to the home favourite Liu in straight sets with a huge margin by taking 39 minutes on the court.
Liu, who is World Number 15 at the moment, played to her maximum potential and gave a good fight in the opening game but she failed to dictate her rival and eventually lost the contest in an unexpected fashion without proving her worth.
It was a spectacular fight in opening set with a the un-seeded Thai shuttler put up remarkable show of top class badminton and refused her rival a reasonable lead at the opening stage.
Sapsiree was in amazing form as she put up staggering show and took a decent 11-8 lead until the end of first half.
After the mid-game break, the Chinese shuttler played well and managed to make the score levelled on the board.
However, Sapsiree showed her remarkable skills in ending points and took the first game with a close 22-20 score on the board.
The second game of this thrilling contest was absolutely punishing for the local shuttler as her Thai opponent took over the control from starting points and set up a huge lead until the break.
After the interval, the underdog Thai lady did not let her Chinese opponent to narrow the gap and remained successful in wrapping up the set with a spectacular 21-8 score on the board.
Sapsiree emerged as the winner against Liu in straight games in 39 minutes with a superb margin of 22-20 and 21-8.
