Sapura Skipper S. Kuhan looking for glory against TNB in Malaysian Hockey League
In order to maintain the position of his team for winning the title in the Premier Division of the Malaysian Hockey League, Sapura Captain S. Kuhan is looking to put in an impressive performance against Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) on October 5 at the National
Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
S. Kuhan, who had donned the colours with the national side, wants his squad to show their worth particularly in the head of penalty conversion. He is also anticipating increasing his tally in the remaining games.
Speaking to the journalists, the Sapura skipper was of the view that they will have to avail all the goal scoring chances. He said, “Our penalty corner conversion rate is very poor this season. To date, we have only scored six from the numerous chances that
came our way,” said Kuhan, a penalty corner specialist.”
He further stated that it will not be an easy task to score goals against TNB, as their goalie S. Kumar was named the best custodian in Asia back in 2010. Furthermore, they have a very good defensive line comprised of the Captain of the national team, Mohd
Madzli Ikmar.
The Sapura team is currently sitting at second place behind Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) in the Premier Division. Though both teams are holding 15 points after playing five games each, KLHC has a better goal-average as compared to Sapura.
On the other side, TNB, the upcoming competitor of Sapura is sitting at third with 13 points after six games. The captain asked the Sapura team not to take TNB easily. He added saying, “Our matches against Tenaga have always been close. It is going to be
the same tomorrow.”
S. Kuhan has been captaining the Sapura team for more than one decade. In the last edition of the MHL, the Sapura team faced TNB four times winning two and losing once while having a draw in one game.
TNB lost their chance to win the title in the Premier Division when they failed to defend their Charity Shield match at the hands of the talented Sapura. Apart from their track record, the TNB coach wants positive results from their players.
On the other hand, the team of KLHC will play against University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) in the upcoming fixture and are expected to earn complete points. It will be interesting to see how Sapura manages to put in a good performance against KLHC and take the
title. KLHC will be looking to dominate the game from the beginning and not allow Sapura any easy chances in the crucial match-up. Both teams will try to carry their winning momentum forward in to this match.
