Sapura edge past Nur Insafi 7-1 - Malaysian Hockey League
After facing a tough time in the first frame of the game, Sapura made an outstanding comeback and crushed the defensive line of Nur Insafi to win 7-1 in the Premier Division match of the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) that was played at National Hockey Stadium
in Bukit Jalil.
Sapura, after playing four games is holding second place in the points-chart after the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) which has contested five games. Both have not tasted defeat thus far in the league, which has increased their chances to become finalist
teams of the event.
The game in the first half between the two teams, Nur Insafi and Sapura was quite competitive as both of them carried out back-to-back attacks against each other. However, most of the strikers were blocked or denied from the other side. It was the talented
squad of Sapura that drew first blood in the 23rd minute when Mohd Izaat Rahim scored the opening goal of the day. However, Nur Hriskesa of Nur Insafi got the score level with a tremendous goal from a field effort after the third minute.
After the breather, Sapura gathered pace and added six more goals to the scoreboard. On the other side, the resilient defence from Sapura did not allow the Nur Insafi attackers to make a comeback in the match. Jiwa Mohan notched a pair of goals in the 38th
and 52nd minutes of play while Izwan Firdaus added two more in the 54th and 56th minutes. The remaining two goals were scored by Mohd Marhan Jalil and Azreen Rizal respectively in the 62nd and 69th and
sealed the impressive victory at 7-1 for Sapura.
In another game, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the team standing at Number three took UiTM down by 6-0 and almost confirmed their place in the knockout round. Having ten points, they only required one more victory in the remaining three fixtures to seal
the spot.
In the single-sided game, Faizal Saari marked a hat-trick of goals for the second time, as he scored in the 24th, 30th, and 62nd minutes of the mark. His team-mates Mohd Firhan Azhaari, Mohd Sallehin Ghani and Mohd Fairuz
