Sara Errani back to her career-best ranking of world number seven – Tennis News
Current WTA season has witnessed some of the most talented upcoming players shining bright but no one has been more successful than Sara Errani. The 25-year-old Italian youngster took off the 2012 circuit as a 45th ranked
player but has reached her career-best spot of world number seven in the WTA Premier Rankings.
It has been a real Cinderella story for Errani throughout this season and she has come up as one of the most improved tennis professional of the year. Her exquisite game play and passion for tennis has grown to an entire new level
during the past 12 months, taking her into the elite Top-10 rankings list in WTA.
Errani first got to world number seven mark on 10th September this year but consistent performances from the Chinese number one, Li Na, pushed her down to the eighth rank a couple of weeks ago. Despite of an opening-round
exit from Beijing, Errani has still managed to claim her career-best ranking of world number seven. Her consistency has been absolutely phenomenal this year and it is anticipated that the Italian number one will carry on with her current impetus in the next
professional circuit. She has repeatedly cited that her prime aim is to clinch the world number one spot and she certainly has the guts to accomplish her dream.
The 25-year-old Italian has already reached the number one spot in the doubles category after she and her compatriot, Roberta Vinci, bagged total of eight WTA titles this season. To carry on both formats of game with such excellence
is certainly a feat of sorts and only few players have been this much impressive in singles as well as doubles categories.
Other notable changes in this week’s WTA Premier Rankings include the rise of the German tennis diva, Angelique Kerber, to the world number five spot. She is the other most impressive prospective of the current season and is also
riding her career-best rank at the moment. Kerber has displaced the Czech number one, Petra Kvitova, from the fifth spot this week.
Kvitova has not been at her best this year and has eventually fallen to the sixth rank this week. Her little cameos didn’t brought her many ranking points but she is anticipated to recover in the next season.
