Sara Errani bullies Vera Dushevina in round two – US Open 2012
World number 10, Sara Errani, crushed the 104th ranked Russian, Vera Dushevina, in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 to reach the third round of the US Open Championship at New York. She spared absolutely nothing at all for her
rival and literally battered her down; demolishing the meagre resistance with stunning control on her returns.
The opening set witnessed three consecutive breakthroughs for the Italian who looked in no mood to spare her opponent anything. She started off with a successful serve break; won all four points on her serve and allowed just two
to her rival before grabbing the second breakthrough of the match.
Another serve hold to love took her scores tally to 4-0. Just a few minutes later, she was leading the opening set by 5-0. The 25-year-old Russian just managed to win two points on her final serve game before she suffered the embarrassing
bagel set defeat. She failed to win a single game throughout the encounter.
The second set wasn’t much different from the first. The Russian failed to register a serve hold in the opening game and fell to a trail of 0-2. However, it wasn’t anything new for her as she had already seen a terrible set before
this one. So, the pressure was always on her and when everything is running against you, it feels like you will lose from any stage you are in.
Same case happened to the 104th ranked Russian; she just managed a single serve break throughout the second set and nothing else. Errani was able to end the match within an hour and retained her energy for the encounter
against another Russian, Olga Puchkova, who came all the way through the qualifiers and booked a date with the 10th seed superstar.
Other successful winners of the day included Olga Govortsova, Serena Williams, Sloane Stephens, Roberta Vinci, Tsvetana Pironkova, Agnieszka Radwanska, Silvia-Soler Espinosa, Ekaterina Makarova, Ana Ivanovic, Maria Kirilenko, Andrea
Hlavackova, Dominika Cibulkova and the former world number one, Jelena Jankovic. The big names that were dismissed on Thursday included Yaroslava Shvedova and Carla Suarez Navarro.
