Sara Errani crushes Stefanie Voegele to reach the quarterfinal – Budapest Grand Prix 2011
Italian tennis-pro Sara Errani continued her successful run on the Women’s Tennis Association tournament as she secured a superb 6-3, 6-1 victory over Stefanie Voegele on Thursday to book her place in the in the last right at 2011
Poli-Farbe Budapest Grand Prix in Hungary. Seeded second at the WTA tournament, Errani made a slow start. However as the match progressed, she raised the level of her game and made her rival run for her money.
The Italian looked a bit out of sorts as the match started. A number of her forehand and backhand winners landed outside the lines early in the opening set. Voegele grabbed opportunities with both hands as she remained toe to toe
with Errani to even the game score 3-3. Leading the game score 4-3 in the set, the Italian had her second break chance. Playing in a wonderful drop shot, she earned a tricky 5-3 lead in the set, serving for the match. Dashing an incredible backhand winner
down the line, she set up her first set point and then converted it easily to take the set score lead 1-0.
Errani started the second set on a positive note as well. Making her third serve break of the match, she raced to 3-1 lead in the set. Voegele, who put up a decent show in the opener, lost the track completely in the second set
as she started to make too many unforced errors to let her opponent take control of the match. Errani dropped only a game in the set to seal the contest that lasted for only 1 hour and 19 minutes.
Serving with deadly control and accuracy, Errani hit 80 per cent of her first serves. She dominated the Hungarian in the serve return department of the game as well with a 58 per cent share of the points. Winner of two WTA titles,
Errani has looked in commanding form in both of her matches at the tournament and if she can handle the pressure well enough, she has a great chance of clinching her third WTA title.
