Saracens crush Benetton Treviso by monstrous difference of 42-17 in Heineken Cup - Rugby
Saracens secured a bonus point victory in their opening clash of the ongoing Heineken Cup 2011 against Benetton Treviso on November 13 at Watford. Saracens thrashed their opponents by a huge margin of 42-17 due to their tremendous show in the second half.
They added 26 points to their total after the break with the help of four tries. Treviso proved to be lacklustre and were left chasing the rampant Saracens throughout the match.
Owen Farrell delivered a Man of the Match performance with 22 individual points in the game. Farrell scored four conversions, three penalties and one try goal in the match and helped his side to start off their Heineken Cup campaign in an impressive manner.
He was the man to put his side in an initial lead and later on further expanded it to 16-3 for his team. He scored all 16 points of his team during the first half with an all-round show. The rusty Benetton Treviso scored just one penalty goal during the first
half and were trailing by 16-3 at the break.
Saracens further picked up their game in the second half and outclassed the rivals in all aspects of the match. They displayed a tremendous teamwork with good hand-eyes coordination, swift and rapid passing, fast runs and above all extraordinary kicking
show.
Two late tries from reserve players Franco Sbaraglini and Gonzalo Padro escaped Treviso from a shameful defeat as they managed to reach their total to of 17 in the end. Willem De Waal was the leading scorer for Treviso side with seven points.
On the other hand, Farrell, Strettle and Ernst Joubert played really well for Saracens. One player from the both sides was awarded yellow cards for foul play. The bonus point victory has put the Saracens on top of the tables.
