Sarada Jasti overpowered Christine Yang in Women’s Singles first round at US Open Grand Prix Gold
India’s upcoming shuttler Sarada Jasti proved her mettle in Women’s Singles first round when she ousted her local opponent Christine Yang in a thrilling fight at the OCBC US Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Tuesday, July 3, in Los Angeles.
The talented Indian lady showed her impressive skills on court and overpowered her local opponent in a thrilling encounter that took three games of attacking badminton from both sides.
Sarada could not play dominating badminton in opening set and lost it but found her way back and made the score levelled by taking the second game. However, she was on a different level in the third set and won the match with a decent score.
In the meanwhile, Christine showed her class in opening set but failed to maintain her momentum on court and eventually dropped the following sets to her Indian opponent and lost this three-set battle in 33 minutes.
Christine was impressive from opening points and took a wonderful lead of 11-6 until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Indian lady tried her best to reduce the deficit but failed to stop the incredible progress of her rival and lost the set with a huge margin of 12-21.
In the following game, Sarada played somewhat better and positive badminton as she did not let Christine to take even a small lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Indian geared up her speed by manipulating all loopholes of her rival and too the set with a comfortable 21-16 margin on the score board.
In the deciding game, Sarada became aggressive and took the bird early to maintain pressure on her opponent. She was leading the final set with a huge margin of 11-5 until the end of first half.
After the break, Sarada did not lose her focus and dictated the pace of rallies by moving quick in all areas. She managed to end up the deciding set with an incredible 21-8 score on the board.
Sarada overpower her local rival in three games of 33 minutes with an interesting margin of 12-21, 21-16 and 21-8.
