Sarah Bateman pockets Women’s 50m freestyle gold medal – 2012 GSC Summer Invitational
Sarah B Bateman of PA-FL pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 50m freestyle on final day of the 2012 Gator Swim Club Summer Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday June 5.
The 21-year-old Bateman smothered her challengers with her exhausting efforts in the single lap freestyle discipline. She wasted no time in the 50m event and secured gold medal of the event.
She demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the one-lap discipline and sprinted her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal by clocking a time of 25.91 seconds.
The champion faced tough competition from Erika A Erndl of T2-FL, who tried hard to surpass her over the finishing end but failed to withstand Bateman’s effort in the final 15 metres of the race and secured second position.
Erndl stayed 0.02 seconds slower from the gold medallist and clocked an effort of 25.93 seconds for second position of the event.
The silver medallist was chased by her teammate, Elizabeth A Pelton, who stayed 0.56 seconds apart and secured bronze medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 26.49 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was secured by Katie E Hoff of T2-FL, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 26.64 seconds.
The 23-year-old Hoff stayed only 0.01 seconds away from Kasey M Schmidt of BSS-FL, who settled on the wall as fifth fastest swimmer by submitting a time of 26.65 seconds.
The 14-year-old Schmidt was chased by Kaitlin M Frehling of SPA-FL, who stayed 0.16 seconds slower from her former finisher and reported an effort of 26.81 seconds for sixth position.
She was followed by Delaney P Barnard of ATAC-FL, who remained almost half a second behind and secured seventh position of the event by producing a time of 27.77 seconds.
The arena appreciated commendable efforts of all participants in the single lap freestyle event while the position holders raked medals for their exhausting efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the championships. In addition, the championship concluded after the completion of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner.
