Sarah Christin advances into Women’s Singles quarter-final at Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open
Indonesia’s spirited shuttler Sarah Christin advanced into Women’s Singles quarter-final after narrowly beating to her lower ranked rival Ghaida Nurul Ghaniyu in round-of-16 battle at the Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 on Friday, May 18, in Indonesia.
The top seeded Sarah had to work really hard while playing against her lower ranked team-mate and managed to win the battle in rubber games with a tight margin on the board.
The higher ranked Sarah started her run in a remarkable manner but lost her focus in the second game.
Nevertheless, she managed to find a good rhythm at the right time and won the deciding set to bag victory in this impressive contest.
On the other hand, Ghaida also showed her brilliance and wrapped up second set with a sensational margin.
However, the lower ranked Indonesian lady could not register her supremacy in the deciding game and lost the match with a respectable difference on the score board.
In the opening set, both females played aggressive badminton but it was Sarah who occupied the driving seat and started to make her opponent work hard for every point.
Until the mid-game break, the higher ranked Sarah was leading the opening set with a remarkable margin.
After the 60-second break, the top seed remained consistent in her positive and composed play and took the game with a margin of 21-13.
In the second game, Ghaida showed her class when she took over the control from her higher ranked compatriot and set up a tremendous lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Sarah tried to live up to expectations but failed to reduce the huge deficit and lost the set with a one-sided 11-21 margin on the board.
In the deciding set, both ladies played well in opening half but it was Sarah who grabbed the driving seat in the concluding half.
The top seed remained impressive in the ending points and won the battle with a 21-16 margin on the board.
The in-form Sarah manages to win this contest in three games with an interesting score of 21-13, 11-21 and 21-16.
