Sarah Katsoulis acquires Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – FINA Swimming World Cup, Beijing
Sarah Katsoulis of Australia acquired gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke on day one of the sixth stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Beijing, China on Friday, November 2.
Katsoulis spoiled the party of her opponents in the 100m discipline as she raked gold medal of the event. With her impeccable efforts in the first half of the race, she remained prominently ahead of her closest competitors and proved her mettle for the title.
She showed no mercy to her opponents in the race and proved her mettle for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 05.30 seconds.
The champion was followed by Sally Foster of Australia, who stayed 0.67 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 05.97 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Rebecca Ejdervik of Sweden, who was 0.14 seconds apart and tapped the wall for bronze medal with a timing of 1 minute and 06.11 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Rie Kaneto of Japan, who stayed 0.21 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 06.32 seconds.
Subsequently, Kaneto was trailed by Sun Ye of China, who suffered a deficit of only 0.12 seconds from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 06.44 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Jennie Johansson of Sweden, who was 0.09 seconds slower and clocked a time of 1 minute and 06.53 seconds.
Similarly, Johansson remained only a touch ahead of Jessica Hardy of USA, who concluded her race in seventh place by posting a time of 1 minute and 06.60 seconds.
Hardy was followed by Jingling s**+, who was 1.31 second slower from her preceding swimmer and posted a time of 1 minute and 07.91 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Katsoulis received a huge round of applause from the audience for her notable efforts and said that she would try to continue the same in future.
