Sarah Katsoulis wins Women’s 50m breaststroke semi-final – EnergyAustralia SC Championships
Sarah Katsoulis of Nunawading won the semi-final of Women’s 50m breaststroke on first day of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Wednesday, September 12.
With her astonishing efforts, the 28-year-old Katsoulis sustained her pace in the second round of the event and made her way to the playoff as top contender for gold medal.
She continued her alluring efforts in the shortest breaststroke discipline and smothered her opponents by finishing first in the race with a timing of 30.56 seconds.
She was followed by Lorna Tonks of Redcliffe League, who stayed almost 0.70 seconds behind and sprinted her way on the finishing wall as second best finisher by submitting a time of 31.21 seconds.
Tonks was followed by Olivia Halicek of University NSW, who remained 0.02 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing wall as third best swimmer by touching the wall with a timing of 31.23 seconds.
Fourth best position of the event was obtained by Sally Foster of Central Aquatic, who remained 0.05 seconds slower from her and surfaced on the finishing end with an effort of 31.28 seconds.
Foster was followed by Samantha Marshall of Melbourne VIC, who remained just an inch away from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with a timing of 31.41 seconds.
Marshall was trailed by Jessica Hansen of MLC Aquatic, VIC, who suffered a loss of nearly 0.15 seconds from her former swimmer and completed her race in sixth best place by submitting a time of 31.56 seconds.
Hansen was chased by Amelia Dahlitz of Norwood, SA, who tried hard to overpower her former finisher but stayed 0.10 seconds away and concluded her race in seventh best place by reporting a time of 31.66 seconds.
Dahlitz was traced by Libby Forbes of Nunawading, who stayed 0.08 seconds slower and settled on the finishing end as eighth best finisher by submitting a time of 31.74 seconds.
In addition, Katsoulis was happy with her fastest qualification effort and expressed that she would try her best to capture gold medal of the event by continuing the same in playoff.
