Sarah Kohler clinches Women’s 800m freestyle gold: Day five – German Olympic Trials
Sarah Kohler of SG Frankfurt clinched the title of Women’s 800m freestyle in the open class on day five of the 2012 German Olympic Trials in Berlin on May 14.
Kohler served notice of her talent by outsmarting her challengers in a wonderful manner for gold medal of the event.
With her unimaginably strong start, she dictated terms to her opponents and tapped the finishing end for the crown of the event with the timing of 8 minutes and 34.28 seconds.
Her scintillating effort remained nearly three seconds faster from Isabelle Harle of SG Essen, who followed Kohler on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 37.93 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Denise Gruhn of SG Dortmund, who cruised her way towards the finishing wall for bronze medal by posting a nice time of 8 minutes and 48.39 seconds.
She was chased by Leonie Antonia beck of SV Wurzburg 05, who stayed almost one second behind and hit the wall for fourth position by submitting a time of 8 minutes and 49.78 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Lena-Sophie Bermel of Swim-Team Elmshorn, who stayed almost four seconds slower and touched the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 53.37 seconds.
Bermel was followed by her teammate, Natalie Charlos, who stayed 2.16 seconds slower and secured sixth position of the event by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 55.53 seconds.
Seventh best spot of the race was secured by Antonia Massone of SSG Saar Max Ritter, who was almost half a second slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 55.91 seconds.
Meanwhile, Massone experienced exhausting efforts of SV Halle’s Melanie Radicke, who secured eighth position of the event by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 56.45 seconds.
In addition, the championship came to an end after the completion of all planned events while the position holders received awards and accolades for their gruelling efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament.
