Sarah Morgan captures Girls 200 yard freestyle gold – High School State Championships, Wyoming
Sarah Morgan of LAR captured the title of Girls 200 yard freestyle at the 2012 4A High School State Championships in Gillette, Wyoming USA on Saturday, October 27.
Morgan smothered hopes of her opponents in the eight-lap freestyle discipline and proved her mettle for the title.
With her gruelling efforts, she remained in a considerable lead over her opponents and tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 55.71 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Julie Schmitt of KWH, who stayed two and a half body length behind and surfaced on the wall for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 58.45 seconds.
Schmitt was chased by Abby Urban of EAS, who stayed 3.30 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and emerged on the finishing end for bronze medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 01.75 seconds.
Urban was followed by Payton Brilz of SHE, who stayed 2.07 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end for fourth position by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 03.82 seconds.
Later, Mariah Miller of CEN stunned the crowd with her immaculate efforts in the playoff of Girls 200 yard Individual Medley (IM). Miller enjoyed a two body length lead over her challengers and reached the medal rostrum for gold medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 14.42 seconds.
Her astonishing pace remained two body lengths ahead of Gracie Brown of EAS, who stayed 2.36 seconds slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for silver medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 16.78 seconds.
Brown was chased by Angella Perry of KWH, who managed to secure third fastest spot of the race by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 20.46 seconds for third position.
Fourth position of the event was obtained by Rachel Sato of CEN, who was 1.33 seconds behind and emerged on the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 21.79 seconds.
In addition, the audience enjoyed ruthless efforts of all position holders in their races and the session concluded after the events.
