Sarah Morgan grabs Girls 100 yard freestyle gold – High School State Championships, Wyoming
Sarah Morgan of LAR grabbed the title of Girls 100 yard freestyle at the 2012 4A High School State Championships in Gillette, Wyoming USA on Saturday, October 27.
Morgan devastated hopes of her opponents in the 100 yard discipline as she sprinted her way towards the finishing blockade for first position.
With her relentless efforts from the start, Morgan experienced no difficulty from her toughest competitors as she touched the wall for gold medal with a phenomenal timing of 51.92 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Julie Schmitt of KWH, who was considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall for silver medal with a wonderful effort of 54.41 seconds.
Schmitt was chased by Jonna Brown of EAS, who was half a body length behind and surfaced on the wall for bronze medal with a nice timing of 55.15 seconds.
The third fastest swimmer was chased by Taylor Segrave of CEN, who stayed 0.49 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall for fourth position with a timing of 55.64 seconds.
Following that, the audience witnessed gruelling efforts of Larisa Jones of KWH in the Girls 500 yard freestyle. Jones showed no mercy to her opponents in the distant freestyle event as she snared the title with an effort of 5 minutes and 16.18 seconds.
The champion was chased by Abby Urban of EAS, who was four and a half body lengths behind and occupied second position of the event with a timing of 5 minutes and 21.80 seconds.
Urban was traced by Sarah Devine of EAS, who was 1.02 seconds slower and finished her race in third best place by clocking a time of 5 minutes and 22.82 seconds.
Devine was traced by Mariah Miller of CEN, who was considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 5 minutes and 27.66 seconds.
In addition, Morgan and Jones were extremely pleased with their performances in the 100 and 500 yard discipline and received medals and accolades for their exhausting efforts at the victory ceremony of the tournament after the session.
