Question:

Sarah Palin - Political experience versus good judgment, which is most important?

Since Sarah Palin could be one heartbeat away from President of the United States, Commander in Chief, what is the most important... experience in military operations, experience in governmental decision making, or experience in legislative procedures? How far does good judgment go, such as smelling out corruption and stopping it, and just living with practical common sense?

Does good judgment really offset a lack of legislative experience?

  1. she seems to agree with Bush/McCain on most issues... I don't call that "good judgment"...

and I think judgment is more important than experience... which is why I like Obama...

  2. Good judgment. Joe biden has lots of experience, but he is still wrong on the majority of issues.

  3. I think the argument is...if it works for her, why not him?

  5. Good judgment and being in touch with reality.

  6. She gets things done.  What has Obama gotten done?  She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in - Obama does not take a stand but votes "present" only, which is a sign of weakness.  She has visited Kuwait on her own because she wanted to - Obama went to Iraq only when it was politically to his advantage (forced to by McCain).

  7. Good Judgement trumps political experience any day, any time.

Look at how many useless appendages work (a misnomer) in Congress and have been there for countless years.  Many are worse than useless, they are harmful to America.

  8. Everything I have read said she has both . Try a websight that is not put up by a liberal . There have been numberous interveiws and articles with her some close to a year old .

  9. Experience in military operations is nice, but not essential- the joint Chiefs of Staff will tell you what the tactical options are, risks, etc. Some familiarity with the legislative process is probably useful- LBJ got a ton of legislation passed because as former Senate Majority Leader he knew all the ins and outs and who owed him a favor. Still, he's not usually considered a great President.

Judgement and integrity are really the key. Experience in elected office may not help prepare the individual for the presidency, but it does provide the voters with insight into the candidate's abilities and priorities. For example, Governor Palin implemented ethics reforms on the oil industry in Alaska early in her administration. In his 8 years in the Illinois state senate, Obama did nothing to protect citizens in low-income housing in his district who were forced out of apartments that become uninhabitable do to lack of maintenence by the landlords.

  10. Governor Sarah Palin has both! She's run organizations at THE TOP

for many years, showing experience and judgment.

No commander in chief of the military comes into office with that particular experience, though she's the head of state troopers.

Every new president, every responsible president relies on information and advice from their generals, cabinet and top advisors.

  11. she has neither

Being a governor of backwoods Alaska temporarily is the lack of experience.

Having 5 children in show lack of good judgment.

  12. To Democrats she has neither, so the question is a moot point for us..

Republicans can choose to believe that she has "good" judgement, but Democrats aren't likely to see it that way... and nobody believes she has the necessary experience.
