Actually, I looked it up and aside from presiding over the senate (which VPs generally don't do anymore) and breaking tied votes in the senate, the VP has no other constitutionally specified duties aside from acting as an agent for the president and doing whatever the president asks them to do. So theirs not really any way of knowing what a VP will do on a day to day basis without asking the president. And seriously, does anyone know what d**k cheney does?
