I do know what the smear campaigns are like in america, that carry on is actually illegal in most countries when it comes to elections.

but i did hear the funniest thing on the radio the other day, a song about obama with lyrics like "i've a crush on obama, best candidate 08" laughed my ar$e off (i don't know what the song was so no link), especially as it was being played over here. It's ridiculous the lengths they'll go to to get votes.

  1. omg..i hope this is not true....these are classics and a lot of them are my favorite....its really stupid. Take Catcher in the rye.... when it was banned, parents hated  Holden's being a poor role model, encouragement of rebellion, and promotion of drinking, smoking, lying, and promiscuity. Often, the challengers have been unfamiliar with the plot itself. these parents are being just like Holden ... They are trying to be catchers in the rye. Maybe she should read the books before banning them

  2. Surely any country that has the right to free speech in its constitution cannot ban books.  If there was anything that could make me riot it would be someone thinking they had the right to tell me what I could and could not read!!!

I can understand some not being suitable for young children - however advanced their reading was as their content is definately adult only but why Roald Dahl?  He is a fantastic children's writer.

I think this woman is dangerous and on this subject alone, should not be part of any government!!

  3. I know Palin is a horrible woman but I would still like a source, I'll even take a Google link.

  4. Where is your link?? I dont believe this for a minute

  5. I don't know about the list, but I found an article that bothers me:

    http://www.time.com/time/politics/articl...

Edit:  Thanks to Pangloss - that's a quote from that Time article

  6. Hmmm

Something tells me that is an internet myth like Obama being an Atheist Muslim.

But who knows, AoG tend to be a superstitious bunch.

  7. I don't know about your particular list but yes she did try to censor the Public Library in the small town where she was Mayor.

Here is one story about it

    http://www.mceades.com/

    http://www.brianhayes.com/2008/09/sarah-...

I read it in the Associated Press.  I couldn't find the article just now.

  8. Probably a Democratic Party propaganda ploy.

    Rev. Neil

Note the Harry Potter books - they weren't even out when she was Mayor.

  9. A Time magazine article mentions that she wanted to find out about getting books banned and even threatened to fire the librarian for not supporting her.

"She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor."

  10. I am not a big fan of this choice for VP, nor am I a Republican.

But I find it hard to believe that she has a problem with "Tom Sawyer" and "My Friend Flicka".

I would love to know where you heard about this.

  11. I would need to see the proof that she did say this, but if so...she is a total *****

  12. Wow. McCain really hit a home run with this girl, judging by how the liberals are going spastic with the hit jobs to try and smear her!  If she was bad for the republican ticket, you would think the liberals would sit back and keep their mouths shut!

The really funny thing is how desperately improbable the hit jobs are becoming on her, and how foolish the idiots who believe them look.

Amazing how this sort of junk gets a life of it's own and shoots across the net wildly when it's a conservative, but a major scandal like the Tony Rezco connection just gets a yawn from the media, because it's about a liberal.

Palin ran on an anti-corruption platform.  It was not unforeseeable that some people would lose their jobs when she took office.  You think maybe - just maybe - those people might say anything to make her look bad after they lost their jobs?

It never ceases to amaze me how people will immediately accept this sort of tripe as gospel when it's presented about someone they disagree with, but will completely disregard major scandals when it's about their guy (can anyone say "Rezco?")

Get a clue, folks, not everything you read is true!

  13. She can go jump off a cliff. Some of those are great books.

  14. That is not fair, so she must have read them all, enjoyed reading them and don't want others to read them. No-one should have the right to decide what others should read. People like that have dirty minds and see evil in everything they read, see and do. I have read some of those books and i believe i am still sane.

  15. Sarah Palin is a disgusting, ignorant, evil witch. Also she looks like an ostrich.

  16. I'd love to believe this, but I don't see a source.  Until then it's nothing.

  17. Source?

  18. And where or what is your source.

I've read everything that I can find on her and I have not seen this anyplace.

These sheeple with their rumors, lies and other Bull excrement make me want to puke in their dinner.

  19. Where did you here this?  Stevel Colbert?  The Daily SHow?  The Onion?  This is just stupid.

  20. Love to see a source for this.  BOY will I be sending out an email to everyone I know in a swing state if I can have a source.

  21. Source, Age?

  22. More made up nonsense

  23. Yes and many liberals want to see the Holy Bible banned.

  24. To Kill A Mockingbird is timeless!

No one has the power to ban books. No one has the right to ban books.

You sure this is right though? Source, please.

  25. I need a source and also i need a reason

  26. Where did you hear this from?  I don't believe in censorship, but where is your source?

EDIT: I googled it and couldn't find the list.  What link did you use?  it wasn't a blog was it?

  27. What exactly do you mean by "banned"?  Can you link me to more information on this?

Anyway, surely as an American she'd be banning these books in the name of freedom, right?  Cos you'd never see someone like Stalin banning books, oh dear me no.

  28. What?!?  Ohhh, c'mon!  And we've been through the Harry Potter thing before, Jesus effing Christ just drop it!

I really dislike fundies.  People who want to ban books don't want people to gain knowledge.  If you want to keep people from learning, ban education.  What a stupid idea.

  29. Where is your source for this or are you just attacking Evangelicals or conservatives? You can't those books....anyway.

  30. that sounds just about as stupid as when someone said that obama was the antichrist

    give us a source
