Sarah Sidebottom crushes Lauren Middleton to claim Women’s Singles title at GSOS U13
Scotland’s budding shuttler Sarah Sidebottom showed her elevated craft on court and remained successful in grabbing Women’s Singles title at the GSOS U13 2012 on Sunday, September 2, in Scotland.
In the final encounter the impressive Sarah defeated her lower ranked compatriot Lauren Middleton in a commanding fashion without showing her any mercy.
The higher ranked Sarah, who was the top seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles main draw of the championship, played to her maximum potential and overwhelmed her opponent in a staggering fashion without facing any trouble at any stage.
Sarah played with remarkable precision and control in the title match and she did not spare any chance for her challenger to fight back and ultimately ended up the contest in straight sets with an incredible margin by working hard for just 31 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the second seeded Lauren could not make a good use of her impressive craft in the final battle against her higher ranked challenger and eventually crashed out without proving her worth throughout the battle.
In the first set, it was the in-form Sarah who showed urgency in setting up a reasonable margin at the early stage.
On the contrary, the lower ranked Lauren tried her best to create pressure on Sarah but failed to find gaps and remained far behind until the end of opening half in first game.
The impressive Sarah continued her roller-coaster run in the concluding half of opening game and did not let her opponent to get closer on score board at any stage.
Sarah remained in commanding position all the way to finish off the first set with a tremendous 21-14 score on the board.
The second game was almost identical when Sarah again showed her tremendous craft without showing any respect to her opponent and again grabbed a spectacular lead on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the top seeded shuttler continued her remarkable run on court and ultimately ended up the set with a huge margin of 21-12.
Sarah secured the title by beating Lauren in the final contest in two sets with a stunning 21-14 and 21-12 score on the board.
