Sarah Sjostrom and Therese Svendsen shine in Halmstad: Day five - Swedish Long Course Championships
Day five of the 2011 Swedish Long Course Nationals ended with the impressive performances of Sarah Sjostrom and Therese Svendsen in their respective meets at Halmstad, Sweden, on Sunday, July 3.
Sarah Sjostrom dominated proceedings in the Women’s 100m butterfly meet, while Therese Svendsen secured the gold medal in the Women’s 100m back-stroke event.
Sjostrom took home the Women’s 100m butterfly title with a winning time of 59.79 seconds. Ida Marko-Varga earned silver in a time of 1 minute and 01.30 seconds, while Miranda Bannsgard captured the bronze medal in 1 minute and 01.65 seconds.
Rebecca Ejdervik hit the wall in 1 minute and 11.05 seconds to clinch the Women’s 100m breast-stroke title. Meanwhile, Jennie Johansson wound up second in a time of 1 minute and 11.08 seconds, whereas, Elin Martensson earned third place honours in 1 minute
and 11.82 seconds.
In the third race, Therese Svendsen nabbed the Women’s 100m back-stroke crown with a sterling time of 1 minute and 02.94 seconds, while Sandra Hafstrom grabbed silver with a time of 1 minute and 03.03 seconds. The bronze title was secured by Ida Lindborg
in a time of 1 minute and 03.20 seconds.
Paul Gordon snagged the Men’s 100m freestyle race with a sterling time of 51.11 seconds. Lars Frolander earned silver honours in 51.33 seconds, while Robin Andreasson grabbed the bronze medal in time of 51.68 seconds.
Frolander captured the Men's 50m butterfly title with a time of 24.60 seconds. Sebastian Holmberg was placed second in 24.64 seconds and David Larsson rounded out the top three in 24.70 seconds.
Johan Johansson won the Men's 50m breast-stroke event with a time of 28.99 seconds. Jesper Akesson nabbed silver in the respective meet in 29.01 seconds, while Harald Johansson earned bronze in 29.25 seconds.
The Men's 400m Individual Medley crown was clinched by Kristian Kron a winning time of 4 minutes and 32.40 seconds. Christoffer Wallin snagged silver with a time of 4 minutes and 35.04 seconds, while Linus Kanth snatched bronze in 4 minutes and 36.01 seconds.
