Sarah Sjostrom claims Women’s 100m butterfly title in Stockholm: 2011 Swedish Short Course Nationals
Swedish veteran, Sarah Sjostrom bulldozed over her rivals on the penultimate evening of the 2011 Swedish Short Course Nationals, in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sunday, November 27. Sjostrom went on to win the Women’s 100m butterfly title against her challengers
in the arena.
Sjostrom was battling against Petra Granlund and Louise Hansson in the final race, as she got off to a strong start in the pool and produced attention grabbing turns throughout the match. Sarah produced a thrilling turn in the final round and knocked the
finishing divider in a winning time of 57.01 seconds to claim Women’s 100m butterfly crown.
More importantly, Sjostrom was not able to beat her previous best mark of 56.95 seconds in the respective race. Meanwhile, Petra Granlund grabbed silver medal by banging the finishing blockade in a matchless time of 58.45 seconds and the bronze title went
to Louise Hansson in a blot of 59.62 seconds. In addition, Miranda Bånnsgård claimed fourth place honours by striking the finishing barrier in a spot of 1 minute and 00.33 seconds.
Céline Bertrand put up a good performance throughout the final heat and earned fifth place by striking the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 00.90 seconds. In the meantime, Joline Hostman captured sixth spot by touching the finishing barrier in a
time of 1 minute and 01.42 seconds. Moreover, Therese Nord got seventh position by touching the finishing fence in a time of 1 minute and 02.05 seconds, whereas, Isabelle Höstman settled eighth in 1 minute and 02.21 seconds.
Vera Johansson grabbed ninth position in the respective race by banging the finishing blockade in a mark of 1 minute and 02.49 seconds, while the tenth position went to Jonna Dahlberg in 1 minute and 02.65 seconds, respectively. Owing to versatile splash
of Sarah Sjostrom, she was awarded the gold title after the close of the session.
