Sarah Sjostrom notches Women’s 200m IM title in Stockholm: 2011 Swedish Short Course Nationals
Day two of the 2011 Swedish Short Course Nationals displayed several scintillating swims of the athletes in Stockholm’s arena, in Sweden, on Friday, November 25.
Sarah Sjostrom claimed yet another gold title in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley meet against her challenging athletes involving Petra Granlund and Ida Sandin by bashing the finishing obstacle in a striking mark of 2 minutes and 09.40 seconds. More importantly,
Sjostrom broke Uma Finnman’s previous best meet record of 2 minutes and 10.21 seconds, set back in 2009. That swim moved her to ninth place in the latest standing of world swimming.
Meanwhile, Petra Granlund claimed silver medal in the respective race by banging the finishing divider in a time of 2 minutes and 09.70 seconds. The effort moved Granlund to thirteenth spot in the rankings of world swimming. The bronze title went to Ida
Sandin in a time of 2 minutes and 10.67 seconds.
Additionally, the Men’s 50m freestyle crown was claimed by Stefan Nystrand in a winning blot of 21.49 seconds. More importantly, Nystrand jumped to sixth place in the current ranking of international swimming. Petter Stymne earned silver medal in the respective
race by hitting the finishing divider in a time of 21.88 seconds, while Pontus Flodqvist claimed bronze title in a spot of 22.46 seconds.

Jakob Dorch topped Men’s 100m breast-stroke race by thrashing the finishing blockade in a triumphant mark of 58.90 seconds. The swim was ahead of Martin Gustavsson’s previous best meet record of 59.02 seconds, set back in 2006. More importantly, Dorch switched
to fifteenth place in the latest ranking of global swimming.
In the meantime, the silver title in the respective splash was taken over by Johannes Skagius in a winning blot of 1 minute and 00.72 seconds. Last, but not the least, the bronze title went to Niklas Tour in a spot of 1 minute and 01.24 seconds.
Owing to attention the grabbing swimming performances of all athletes, the winners including Sarah Sjostrom, Stefan Nystrand and Jakob Dorch were given compliments along with accolades and cash prizes after the session’s conclusion.
