  1. I agree with you completely. Throwing Palin up there and fueling all this controversy about her dysfunctional personal life is just a smokescreen to distract us from the issues. And she's doing nothing but fueling the smokescreen.

But I did like the Republican chant, "Zero!" and I apply it to Palin.

  2. Biden's Son Off to Iraq too

As Sen. Barack Obama closes in on his running mate pick, one prospect with clear momentum is Sen. Joseph Biden Jr.

On Oct. 3, Biden's son, Joseph Robinette "Beau" Biden III, will be deployed to Iraq.

Palin: Iraq war 'a task that is from God'

    http://news.yahoo.com/story//ap/20080903...

Palin asked the students to pray for the troops in Iraq, and noted that her eldest son, Track, was expected to be deployed there.

"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."

A video of the speech was posted at the Wasilla Assembly of God's Web site before finding its way on to other sites on the Internet.

Palin told graduating students of the church's School of Ministry, "What I need to do is strike a deal with you guys." As they preached the love of Jesus throughout Alaska, she said, she'd work to implement God's will from the governor's office, including creating jobs by building a pipeline to bring North Slope natural gas to North American markets.

"God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she said.

  3. PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere."

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere."

PALIN: "There is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate."

THE FACTS: Compared to McCain and his two decades in the Senate, Obama does have a more meager record. But he has worked with Republicans to pass legislation that expanded efforts to intercept illegal shipments of weapons of mass destruction and to help destroy conventional weapons stockpiles. The legislation became law last year. To demean that accomplishment would be to also demean the work of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, a respected foreign policy voice in the Senate. In Illinois, he was the leader on two big, contentious measures in Illinois: studying racial profiling by police and requiring recordings of interrogations in potential death penalty cases. He also successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform legislation.

  4. >i dont get ppl who vote for sarah JUST cause she's a women, you dont see men voting for obama cause hes a man

Why did you fail to mention that plenty of blacks are voting for obama just because he's black?

    Back to you.

  5. I couldn't even bare listing to hit. it was fall of c**p.  she has a special needs kids. that good to be vist president?

I thought the election wasnt suppose to be about your own freaking kids.

  6. This speech was just a whole lot of the same repeated nonsense that now has our economy in increased inflation, decreasing production, weakest dollar EVER IN OUR HISTORY, and a bankrupt Federal treasury (but a F-in' lot of CEO's who have become multi-billionaires!)

They will ride our country right down the toilet if we don't vote them out now!

  7. Yes, she did. She spoke on energy and the economy. She DID put Alaska way in the black, you know. She opposed the bridge to nowhere saying she thought if they needed the bridge, Alaskans should build it themselves to save money. As soon as I collate my notes this morning I will post everything on my blog (link below).

She did talk about her family. Might as well, the press and some libs seem to be digging into them, so... Notice that while she took digs at Obama and Biden, she never once talked about their family members except in a polite manner. My opinion is that you could not possibly have listened to her entire speech or you wouldn't be asking this.

  8. Typical politician cheerleading-type speech, but the democrats did the same thing.  Neither party has a plan to stop deficit spending and getting us out of entangling alliances.

  9. fact is none is not on the card.

  10. OOOWch ... I know your " just saying" ...but  you did insult  the infantry there ...unfairly and badly.

I listened to her speech and it's like we listened to two different speeches? I think there are alot of reasons people might vote for Palin besides the fact that she is a woman...  that she is known to take on corruption and very experienced in the field of energy might be two of those.  That she is an outsider to Washington, while so many crave reform and freshness there might be another.

  11. you don't know what a great speech is! she hit a grans slam with this speech and i can't wait for her to be our vp! he son is honoring our country no matter what level he is. she did talk about the economy and how to make it stronger through drilling and competion in buisness. i am sory if you don't agree with me because i think she is going to the white house!

  12. It was what it was, a speech. She was locked up for days to prepare for it and read what she was told to read. As far as political speeches went, it was fine, she whipped up the base like she was supposed to do. What gets me about the rest of the RNC convention is how flat so many of the other speakers are. "I know John McCain, blah, blah, blah..."

They are also carrying on like the last eight years are the result of some unknown supernatural force that they are here to rescue the country from. Like they are not the ones who drove the country into the ditch in the first place. Unbelievable! Maybe they all live near those nuclear reactors they're so fond of.

  13. i dont like the attitude that your question took a place in, first of all.. and second of all.. i think sarah palin has wayyyy more experience than obama n i think everything she said was straight and to the point. sorry if you didnt think it was "factual enough" but face it---obama is just all talk, a celbrity, and has NO Idea what the heck hes gonna do if he gets elected. McCain and Palin have good experience, good background, good careers they are coming from. Obama and Biden.. i think not.

  14. How old are you ? you write like you might be 12 or 13, if not then someone that failed miserably in school.

Sarah Palin's speech was two fold, one was to introduce her and her family to the public second was to inform people of what she has done as governor of Alaska.

Truth be known, Sarah Palin is the only candidate of the 4 that has any executive experience including McCain.

Someone above me mentioned Biden's son going to Iraq, while this may be true I don't expect him to be in harms way since he is a lawyer and will not be on the front lines as Sarah son will be and McCain's son was. Biden's son is also the Attorney General of Delaware.

Still I am not taking anything away from Beau, he is serving his country as any respectable man should. I am sure that Joe is very proud of his son, I know that I would.

  15. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_o...

States the facts on her speech.

  16. As a vet I know that you start at the bottom unless your dad is a senator orsome political big wig. I served in the infantry also and it is the only corp that you can not do with out. I am proud of her stance. She tore Omama a new one last night. She is an outsider and that is the biggest complaint. Now we have one and you guys are still bitching, Get a life. Give her a chance. She is what we have been wanting. Young, smart, experience and a DC outsider. Go Sarak

    From a former Clinton supporter.
