Sarah’s Secret looks to get back on winning ways in the Grade 3 Harold C. Ramser Stakes
The 3-year-old Kathy Walsh trained Sarah’s Secret recently recorded the first of her four straight career opening victories, but her awesome streak ended in the Grade 2 San Clemente Handicap over at a mile at Del Mar on 24 July, 2011, when she weakened to finish 6th for the first time in 5 starts.
The daughter of Leroidesanimaux, out of Sarasota by Luhuk, was certainly on a mission but now she can redeem herself in the Grade 3, $100,000 Harold C. Ramser Sr. Stakes at the Santa Anita Park on 16 October, 2011.
The Grade 3 Harold C. Ramser Stakes will be run over at a distance of 1 mile on Turf, and so far it has reeled in 10 other 3-year-old fillies, featuring the San Clemente Handicap winner Up In Time and the ever so dangerous Celestial Kitten.
Bred by Joan Hadley Thoroughbreds, Sarah’s Secret looked most professional in winning the first four starts of her career.
She broke her maiden at Del Mar last year on dirt over a distance of 5 ½ furlongs, and she completed the sprint in 1 minute and 4.50 seconds.
The filly moved on to synthetic surface for her next start at Hollywood Park in an allowance race, which she comfortable won at about 6 ½ furlongs with the winning time of 1 minute and 16.24 seconds on 7 October, 2010.
Her connections tried her on three different surfaces in her first three starts from dirt to Poly Track and then moving on to turf, and her third start was in an allowance race run on turf also at Hollywood Park, as she marked the 2011 season opener with a win.
On 11 June, 2011, Hollywood Park offered grade 2 status for 3-year-old fillies, in the shape of Honeymoon Stakes, and Sarah’s Secret gladly obliged by winning her first graded stakes race in her first attempt over at 1 1/8 miles with winning time of 1 minute and 50.04 seconds.
Ahead of the Harold C. Ramser Stakes, Sarah’s Secret turned in a work out session of five furlongs in 1 minute 2/5 seconds at Santa Anita, and it was her fourth workout leading up to the race.
