Saratoga Slew to be in contention with Millibar in the Thakeham Homes With Cubitt & West Handicap at Lingfield
Lingfield will host the Class 5 Thakeham Homes With Cubitt & West Handicap over seven furlongs on Friday, 11th May. The £2,386 purse will get contested by fourteen runners. Majority of the line-up has raced at Lingfield but none have been able to celebrate success at the race course.
Scoring a second position recently is Saratoga Slew, Footstepsinthesand’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Life Rely. Entered as the 5/2 favourite she settled ¾ of a length behind the winner, Boudoir, in the Betfred Goals Galore Fillies’ Handicap on 1st May.
The final lengths of the race found the leading pair in very close contention.
Fine Painting settled third behind the winner.
Trained by Marco Botti, the three-year-old will race her second start of the season at the same race course and thus has high chances of claiming the race. Impressive start of the season can promise her success if she keeps the level of performance intact.
Another note worthy entry for the race is Millibar, Manduro’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Iktidar. Out of the five outings during the new season, three were at Lingfield with just a single second score while the remaining two saw her finishing fourth.
She strode into the season on 14th January in the Forest Row Handicap at Lingfield over a mile. Bronze Angel, the evening’s favourite, won the race. Finishing the closest to the winner was Mr Red Clubs.
Ending the race fourth was Millibar.
The three-year-old had her second start in the Crowhurst Maiden Fillies’ Stakes on 18th January at Lingfield over a mile. She missed the wire by a mere ¾ length difference as Samedi won the race.
Millibar was riding with Luke Morris.
The 7/4 favourite of the race, Burke’s Rock, could only manage the fourth position on the field of nine.
Her most recent race and the till yet last try at Lingfield was in the Free Betting With Freebetting.Co.UK Handicap on 16th March over seven furlongs. She did improve to finishing second in the last try at the race course but once again ended fourth on the field of seven.
The race was won by Lionrock and qualifying as the runner up was Scouting For Girls.
Millibar has raced at Lingfield enough to finally post a win through the fourth seasonal start there.
